Japanese Friendship Garden Ro Ho En

What a view Samantha, Lauren, Mrs. Davis, and Mrs. Henry saw.

Mrs. Henry with Lauren and Samantha.
As you can see, today we went to the Japanese Friendship Garden. We brought our art teacher, Mrs. Henry. She is our all-time favorite art teacher and always will  be.

Let's see how well you would do on a test:

1. What does Ro Ho En mean?
2. What is Phoenix's sister city in Japan?
3. What do koi eat? (We had to taste it to know what it is.)

Please respond with the answers. We will respond back with the correct answers ASAP.

Koi!

It tickles when the koi suck our fingers.

Chemistry

The table got a little messy!

Today we went to the Arizona Science Center to learn about chemistry. Our teacher admitted that she was a beginner in chemistry so she had a professional assistant to demonstrate the explosive and fiery parts behind a shield. Chemistry is fun when you get to try experiments and sometimes they don’t work out quite right. Our favorite part about today's experiments was when we combined vinegar, baking soda, bleach, and food coloring in a bottle, and it foamed up and over the sides and onto the table and even onto the chairs and floor!

We also experimented with yeast and vinegar in a bottle with a balloon cap, and the balloon expanded.

In chemistry, we learned that there are three types of chemical reactions: color change, temperature change, and gas release. Today we experimented with all three of these reactions.

PS Mrs. Davis: Don’t wear a white blouse to chemistry lab!
