Georgia O'Keeffe

By Georgia O'Keeffe
How to draw a flower? Georgia O'Keeffe, the independent and eccentric artist, spent her long life depicting poppies, petunias, sunflowers, camellias, pansies, lilies, as well as bones and cityscapes. The Education Girlz read a biography about this American artist and then filled an entire paper with a single, radiant flower using pastels and a layering technique.

Northern Arizona-Day 2...

Good morning! Are you ready to go to the Petrified Forest? 8:00 a.m.- now 9:00 a.m. Are we there yet? Wow! Look at the iridescent wood. How is that made? Well, first the trees fall in the river, then the mud covers the wood. After that, time and volcanic ash change the wood into rock. Now let's see the Painted Desert. Oh my! Look at the exquisite view. C'mon, we have to earn our Junior Ranger badges. Badges are done. I am sorry, but we are not going to Canyon De Chelly today. Waaa. Ok, let's eat dinner.
What a beautiful vista!

Northern Arizona-Day 1...

Hello Everyone! I am going to tell you about our fantastic trip to the wonderful Northern Arizona. Our first stop was Montezuma's Castle. We learned that the Sinagua tribe lived at Montezuma's Castle but they disappeared and nobody knows why they left. People still make theories, but we haven't found out! After Montezuma's Castle, we traveled to Montezuma's Well. We saw a one hundred foot deep well. I, Lauren, made a prediction that the Sinagua tribe came down to the well to obtain water and to swim in the summer. I wanted to jump in the well, but my teacher wouldn't let me. After begging my teacher to jump in the well, we journeyed to Sunset Crater. We followed a trail all the way around the volcano. Oh! And I forgot to mention it was my teacher's birthday! She ate a chocolate, sprinkled cupcake. As we were looking for a vista to look inside a volcano, I tripped over a plethora of rocks. My sister finally found bars in front of an entrance to look inside a volcanic lava tube. We looked inside and it was FREEZING! There were all these rocks covering the entrance because the entrance collapsed a couple of years ago. As we were walking back to our car, Samantha and I took our shoes and our socks off and started stepping on a'a lava and pahoehoe lava. OW! Stepping on a'a lava really hurt our feet. But the pahoehoe lava felt smooth on our feet. We finally got back to our car. We started driving to Wupatki. At Wupatki, we saw house ruins. We climbed in every house they built. The doors were built so small, I had to duck. The house was built of rock. It had a reddish color and it was iridescent when the sun shined on it. When we arrived at our car, we drove to our hotel, Little America. We had a great day and we learned a plethora! This paragraph was written by Lauren Stein!
